The Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestras announced Monday it has completed a $33.5 million capital campaign for the WYSO Center for Music.
The new center, which opened in spring 2024 at the intersection of East Washington Avenue and Ingersoll Street in Madison, is the organization’s first permanent home in its 60-year history.
With the success of the capital campaign, WYSO now owns the center outright, which will enable the organization to direct all of its resources to expanding access to music education for young people.
The campaign drew support from 518 donors across 31 states and four countries.
Campaign gifts ranged from as little as $5 to as much as $10 million, and fundraising was aided by a $1 million matching gift challenge led by Campaign Co-Chair Diane Ballweg and a $2 million gift from the late Jerry Frautschi.
