Over 23,400 Wisconsin state park passes have been sold via a new state Department of Transportation and Department of Natural Resources partnership that made it easier to get a state parks pass.
Under the initiative, people could also sign up for a state park pass when they completed their annual vehicle registration online. The program began last month, and 23,400 passes were sold. That accounts for 17% of the 133,670 passes sold in 2026.
A new change to state passes in 2024 allowed them to be valid for a full 12 months from the date of purchase.
“Working strategically across agencies to deliver efficient government service provides tremendous benefit for our customers,” WisDOT Secretary Kristina Boardman said in a statement. “Wisconsinites can now renew their registration and purchase a park pass in one simple transaction. The volume of park passes sold in the first month demonstrates just how successful this initiative has become.”
