Food and forestry exports from Wisconsin hit record levels in the first half of 2026, reaching more than $2 billion, a 5% percent increase over the same period in 2025, according to a report by Wisconsin Public Radio.
The figures are provided in a report from the state Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection’s International Agribusiness Center.
Economists warned that the record pace for food and forestry goods might not last into the second half of 2026 as higher tariffs from the U.S. trade war with Canada take effect.
The report also highlighted the steep decline in exports to some of Wisconsin’s top export markets that have exchanged retaliatory tariffs with the U.S.
Sales to China, a large market for dairy cow genetics and soybeans, were down $41 million, or 45%, from a year ago.
