The Small Business Development Center team, a part of the Wisconsin School of Business on the UW-Madison campus, announced last week it received an inaugural Innovation in Action Award in Green Bay in June during the Wisconsin Small Business Development Center’s annual meeting and award ceremony.
It recognizes the creation of significant, scalable tools that expand access to entrepreneurship education and help fill gaps in the entrepreneurial ecosystem. Some of the work includes the creation and relaunch of online courses First Steps to Starting a Business — which has been viewed by over 8,500 entrepreneurs globally — and the development of the Beginner’s Guide to Financial Projections.
The award also recognizes broader innovation efforts, including student involvement with partnerships like Badger Consulting and the Tech Exploration Lab, and AI readiness work.
