Wisconsin ranks No. 30 in the nation for electric vehicle market share, as EVs represent 4.6% of new light-duty vehicle sales in the state, according to the second quarter market analysis by the Alliance for Automotive Innovation.
The state’s share of EVs was up from the 3.2% reported in the first quarter, as 2,916 EVs were sold in Wisconsin in Q2.
However, second quarter sales were down 4.6% when compared to the second quarter of 2025.
For the first half of the year in Wisconsin, EV sales were 3.9% percent of the market, below the national average of 7.1%.
In terms of public EV charging, Wisconsin ranks No. 28 in ratio of EVs to public chargers.
Nationally in the second quarter, there were 7.8 million EVs on the road and a total of 250,158 publicly available charging outlets — a ratio of 31 EVs for every public port.
In Wisconsin at the end of the second quarter, there were about 63,900 EVs on the road and 2,350 publicly available charging outlets — a ratio of 27 EVs for every public port.
The Wisconsin total includes 885 DC Fast chargers, with 74 net new chargers added in Q2.
