Cases of measles in Wisconsin children continue to rise, prompting a Wisconsin health official to urge parents to make sure their children are fully vaccinated as the new school year begins, according to a report by Wisconsin Public Radio.
Dr. Stephanie Schauer, the state’s immunization program manager, said measles vaccinations, along with those for mumps and rubella, are required by state law for children to attend school.
There have been 108 confirmed and probable cases of measles in Iowa, Lafayette and Grant counties since Aug. 11, and nearly 45% of all state cases have been in school-age children, the WPR report said.
