Wisconsin DPI awards $18.5 million for charter school development

The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction announced Thursday it has awarded $18.5 million in federal subgrants to support the planning, opening and expansion of 27 charter schools across Wisconsin.  

This is the third round of a U.S. Department of Education grant for charter school growth in the state.  

The department plans to apply for supplemental funds from the U.S. Department of Education.
