The Wisconsin Technology Council launched the Wisconsin Quantum Alliance on June 10, according to a report in WisBusiness.
The newly launched Wisconsin Quantum Alliance aims to promote the development of quantum computing in the state and help grow the quantum workforce.
By 2035, the Midwest could have 200,000 new jobs in the “quantum economy,” according to Maggie Brickerman, the head of the Wisconsin Tech Council.
Other states are already getting federal dollars in the quantum computing sector, including Illinois, Maryland and Colorado.
Brickerman said Wisconsin can compete in the field if technologies can get “out of the labs and into companies.”
Quantum computing is a technology that can perform more advanced calculations than regular computing. It could potentially break encryption and decode security measures that normal computing cannot.
