WEA Member Benefits announced Thursday that Karim Habib has been appointed as president and CEO after the July 3 retirement of former President and CEO Dave Kijek.

Kijek was a part of WEA for over 33 years.

“It has been an honor to serve the members who rely on this organization every day,” Kijek said in a statement. “I am proud of the strong foundation we have built and the dedicated team that brings our mission to life. WEA Member Benefits has always been grounded in service, trust and integrity and I am confident Karim will continue moving the organization forward while staying true to those values.”

Habib recently served as vice president of strategic partnerships and sales at TruStage.

“Karim brings a thoughtful leadership approach to this role,” Nathan Ugoretz, chair of WEA Member Benefits board of trustees said in a statement. “He understands that strong organizations are built through trust, clear communication and respect for the people doing the work. The board appreciated his commitment to listening, learning and building relationships from the start.

“We have great confidence in Karim’s leadership and look forward to working with him as WEA Member Benefits continues building on its strong foundation.”
