We Energies has proposed a new 750-megawatt natural gas power plant in the Fox Valley community of Wrightstown, according to an Oct. 2 report in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
We Energies has filed preliminary engineering plans for the Fox North Energy Center, which could be operational by 2032 if approved by the Public Service Commission.
The utility has two other pending natural gas plant proposals, one for 1.2 gigawatts in Kenosha County and another for 324 megawatts in Walworth County.
The company did not specify a reason for its latest proposal, but new data center proposals have increased the demand for energy throughout eastern and southern Wisconsin.
More information will be provided in future regulatory filings, according to We Energies spokesperson Brendan Conway.
