People gathered on Thursday evening to hold a vigil for Corey Ruiz at the intersection of South Baldwin and Williamson streets on Madison’s near east side, the site where a Madison police officer shot and killed Ruiz on Wednesday.
Wisconsin Public Radio reported that hundreds gathered at what has become a makeshift memorial for Ruiz.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice is investigating the shooting, with four police officers on leave.
The city announced Thursday that Williamson Street between South Dickinson and South Few streets will remain closed until further notice.
