The Universities of Wisconsin Presidential Search Committee has named three finalists for the position of UW system president, and all are currently affiliated with southern institutions.
Each finalist has agreed to be interviewed for the position and appear at public forums next week.
The finalists are:
- Steven Gareth Holley, executive vice chancellor and chief operating officer, University of Mississippi
- Tonjanita L. Johnson, senior vice chancellor for academic and student affairs, University of Alabama System
- Bernard J. Savarese, vice president for academic affairs, research, and student success, University of Tennessee System
The eventual selection will lead the state’s 13 public universities.
“Our universities serve every corner of the state, and their success is critical to Wisconsin’s future,” Ashok Rai, vice president of the Board of Regents and chair of the Presidential Search Committee, said in a press release.
“We look forward to hearing from these finalists who will share their vision for the future of the Universities of Wisconsin and how the 13 universities can best serve the state,” Rai said.
The finalists will appear separately at public forums next week. More information on dates and times are online.
