For the 15th consecutive year, U.S. News & World Report has ranked UW Health the top hospital in Wisconsin on its Best Hospitals list.
The publication evaluated nearly 5,000 hospitals as part of the rankings.
In addition to the No. 1 hospital ranking in Wisconsin, nine medical and surgical specialties were ranked among the top 50 in the nation, up from eight last year.
They include cancer, now at 40 after being ranked 56 last year, and diabetes and endocrinology, which ranked 10th in the nation.
Cancer care and orthopedics are newly ranked for UW Health, and cancer and orthopedics are ranked No. 1 in Wisconsin.
U.S. News & World Report also reviews hospitals for 23 conditions and procedures for patients age 65 and older. This year, UW Health received the highest possible rating of “high performing” for 20 procedures and conditions, up from 18 last year.
“Earning this recognition year after year is something we’re incredibly proud of,” Dr. Peter Newcomer, chief operating officer for UW Health, said in a press release. “It speaks to the talent, innovation and commitment of our teams, who continue to advance patient care, research and outcomes across our health system.”
