With no on-site staff and a self-serve checkout kiosk, Garver Feed Mill’s newest store is trying the honor system, according to an article in the Wisconsin State Journal.
The Book Deal, a used bookstore that recently opened at Garver, will trust customers to pay for items from its 2,000-book selection. It’s the second location for the business.
The store’s checkout area has two screens — one for scanning books and one for payment.
If this model works, it will be the latest addition to a facility that produced $17.9 million in direct local economic activity in 2025 and an estimated $85 million in local economic activity since opening in 2019.
The figures are from an Economic Impact Report published by Garver in June.
