Payroll employment numbers released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics on Friday showed total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 172,000 in May.
Most of the job gains were in leisure and hospitality, local government and health care. Employment in the financial activities sector decreased.
The unemployment rate remained unchanged at 4.3%.
