Urban Triage said Thursday that it made 119 permanent housing placements from January through September, including 48 in the third quarter alone.

In its third quarter report, the nonprofit organization, which helps individuals and families find and keep stable housing, get fresh food, and build job skills, also said 85% of its clients were still housed as of August 2026.

The good news continued in county budget deliberations. Urban Triage, which faced a $321,520 cut in its housing navigation and case management funding, saw $233,000 restored in the 2027 county budget.

Since the funding attracts federal matching dollars, Urban Triage said nearly $900,000 in combined housing resources was at stake.

“This year tested us,” Brandi Grayson, founder and CEO of Urban Triage, said in a press release. “We made hard financial decisions so the people who count on us wouldn’t feel it, and we kept getting people into homes.”

Urban Triage also reported that it distributed about 8,000 pounds of organic produce directly and through partners such as REAP Food Group.

The people behind these numbers will celebrate when the organization holds its second annual Alumni Reunion on Friday, Nov. 13, from noon to 2 p.m., at the Center for Black Excellence and Culture, 671 W. Badger Road, Madison.

With Thanksgiving Day approaching, Urban Triage will hand out approximately 40 Thanksgiving baskets to alumni during the reunion.
