The rise of gas prices due to the Iran war has pushed inflation upward, the Associated Press reported.
So much so that it was at its highest level in three years in May.
According to the Labor Department, consumer prices rose 4.2% in May from a year earlier during the same period. The period from April to May saw an increase of 3.8% and was the third straight monthly increase.
For months, prices have risen more quickly than wages.
