Three Wisconsin trucking schools will lose their accreditation and shutter as part of a federal immigration crackdown by the Trump administration, according to a report from Wisconsin Public Radio.
More than 100 trucking schools around the country have had their accreditation decertified because they have been issuing commercial driver’s licenses to people who could not pass English proficiency exams, the U.S. Department of Transportation said Wednesday.
The three Wisconsin schools are CDL Pro School in Kenosha, On Your Way CDL Training in Milwaukee and Tez CDL School in Sturtevant.
Commercial driver’s licenses, which are federally regulated and state issued, allow people to drive semitrucks and other commercial vehicles.
Public safety was cited as a justification for the Trump administration’s actions, but immigration advocates say the move will make it more difficult for immigrants to find jobs.
