Two Milwaukee apartment buildings whose owners are under federal investigation were evacuated Sept. 23 because of safety concerns, according to a report by Wisconsin Public Radio.
The buildings were evacuated after a property inspector found the electrical system had been tampered with and the fire doors were broken.
The report said the properties are owned by Sam Stair of S2 Real Estate, who faces federal charges connected with alleged drug trafficking organizations that operated out of the building’s apartments, which are located near downtown Milwaukee.
Based on a statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Eastern District of Wisconsin, federal prosecutors allege Stair had rented properties to drug traffickers to store and distribute cocaine, fentanyl and other controlled substances.
