The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled to block lawsuits against Roundup weedkiller, the Associate Press reported.
The court on Thursday sided with the maker of Roundup weedkiller, which plaintiffs said led to cancer. The ruling is anticipated to block thousands of lawsuits alleging that the company failed to warn people of the product’s carcinogenic effects.
The 7-2 ruling held that Roundup cannot be sued in state courts for failure to warn because federal regulators have deemed a link to cancer unlikely and do not require a warning label.
