Sunlite Plastics in Germantown has announced it would lay off 41 workers, according to a report in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Sunlite, which specializes in custom medical-grade plastic tubing, was the only company that filed a layoff notice in September with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development.

September’s job losses marked a significant decrease from the 237 Wisconsin workers that lost their jobs in August.

Despite the layoffs, nonfarm jobs in Wisconsin have risen during the last five months, according to Scott Hodek, chief economist for the department.

Wisconsin’s 3.2% unemployment rate is a full point below the national average of 4.2%.

Only 29,000 new jobs were created nationally in September, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
