The Legislature’s budget committee gave the OK for Landmark Development to purchase the State Office Building at 1 W. Wilson St., the Wisconsin State Journal reported.
The state put the building up for sale as part of its plan to reduce its office footprint downtown. The Art Deco building could be transformed into a transit hub and may house a planned Amtrak station.
The building sold for $10 million.
In addition to housing the train station, Landmark said the building could also be used for housing, retail, dining, entertainment and more.
