The Wisconsin State Building Commission has approved $254 million for building projects, including new student housing at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and improvements at the Winnebago Mental Health Institute.
To address campus housing shortages, two new UW-Madison residence halls will add about 1,690 student beds and a 400-seat dining facility.
The project is scheduled for completion by fall 2029.
The Building Commission also approved construction of utility and service tunnel improvements at Winnebago Mental Health
Institute and the remodeling of the Madison Readiness Center for the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs.
The allocation also covers five laboratory and lecture hall renovations at UW-Green Bay, UW-La Crosse, UW-Madison, UW-Milwaukee and UW-Parkside.
