Citing the need to reduce trade uncertainty, Gov. Tony Evers Tuesday announced the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. and the Agence Économique Régionale of the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region in France have approved a memorandum of understanding to promote closer economic and educational ties between the two agencies.
The agreement, which follows a 2025 Evers visit to the French region, creates a framework for them to exchange expertise, develop collaborative projects and assist with the growth of companies in their respective regions.
Evers said in a press release that recent trade tensions are a motivating factor for the relationship between two regions that share economic characteristics, including a strong manufacturing base.
“Especially as we continue to see global trade uncertainty and chaos out of Washington, I’m proud of my administration’s efforts to develop and maintain partnerships and friendships with international partners that will continue to pay dividends for Wisconsin’s future economic success for future generations, and this partnership is proof of that good work,” Evers said.
