Following up on a commitment made during his State of the State address earlier this year, Gov. Tony Evers on Tuesday announced the state has awarded $6.6 million in grants to 84 employers to train their workers in AI and advanced manufacturing.
The grants, provided through the Wisconsin Training for Resilient Advanced Industry Needs (WisTRAIN) employer grant program, will serve an estimated 3,800 Wisconsin workers.
The diverse list of grant recipients ranges from the Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream Co., an ice cream manufacturer in Dane County, to Adept Manufacturing and Gauging LLC, a precision machining firm in Milwaukee County.
A complete list of recipients is available online.
“We’re excited for the possibilities that these projects provide to Wisconsin employers and workers to gain new skills to succeed in emerging and high-demand industries like advanced manufacturing,” Department of Workforce Development Secretary Amy Pechacek said in a statement.
“The WisTRAIN grants will boost our state’s economic competitiveness and help ensure all Wisconsin workers can benefit from a dynamic, growing economy.”
