A union vote at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital was successful last month, but now SSM Health wants federal officials to void the election results, the Cap Times reported.
The reasoning SSM Health gave is that it believes some of the over 500 nurses who voted should not have been allowed to vote, specifically charge nurses, as they are supervisors.
The move has delayed contract negotiations for nurses, which would aim to bring better wages and safer staffing levels to SSM Health.
According to voting rules, even if the 83 charge nurse votes were thrown out, the election would still be successful.
The Cap Times asked about this, but SSM Health did not provide an answer.
