The South Central Wisconsin Multiple Listing Service released a new tool to help people detect fraudulent online property listings.

The listing service is owned by the Realtors Association of South Central Wisconsin, and the association has partnered with Property Shield to provide all members of the listing service with access to the company’s fraud detection platform.

“Protecting the integrity of listing information is an important part of serving both our members and the consumers who rely on accurate real estate data,” SCWMLS CEO Lisa Marshall said in a statement. “Providing this technology as a member benefit gives our brokers and agents another resource to help identify fraudulent listings quickly and respond before they create bigger issues.”

The platform monitors active property listings across the internet and uses artificial intelligence to identify fraudulent advertisements. It does so by cross-referencing property images, details and ownership information.

The tool will be available to members by mid-August.
