The fourth annual Smart Trips Challenge began on Sept. 1, as RoundTrip Greater Madison challenges people across Dane County to swap trips they would normally drive alone for more affordable, sustainable options like biking, taking the bus or carpooling.
The challenge runs through Sept. 30 and is free and open to anyone 18 or older who lives or works in Dane County.
Participants can log their alternative trips throughout September for a chance to win more than 20 weekly prizes.
Anyone who logs at least four round trips in a week will automatically be entered into that week’s prize drawings.
Those who log at least 16 round trips will also be entered into the grand prize drawings.
“Our RoundTrip Greater Madison app is now live, making it easy for people across Dane County to log their trips and find transportation options that work for them,” Zia Brucaya, RoundTrip Program Manager, said in a press release. “And for the first time, participants can create teams with friends, family, neighbors, or coworkers, so they can take on the challenge together.”
This year’s prize sponsors include One Social Food Hall, Friends Applaud Tavern & Cafe, Giant Jones Brewing Co., Monk’s Bar & Grill, Marigold Kitchen, Madison Bikes, Machinery Row Bicycles and Metro Transit.
RoundTrip Greater Madison is a program of the Greater Madison Metropolitan Planning Organization. The program helps individuals and employers in Dane County choose sustainable alternatives to driving alone.
