The sale of Mineral Point’s Ben Franklin store is closing today (Wednesday), and its future is in some doubt, according to a report in the Wisconsin State Journal.
The store and the building housing it is located at the corner of High and Chestnut streets in the Iowa County community, and it has been owned by John Egan, who lives in Florida, since 2014.
The new owner, who has not been publicly identified, is scheduled to close on the purchase today, but his plans for the property are unknown.
The store, one of only two Ben Franklins remaining in Wisconsin, was put up for sale in December 2025.
The building itself dates to 1864 and has housed the local Ben Franklin store for more than 60 years.
