The community is invited to a ribbon-cutting celebrating the official opening of the expanded Warner Park Community Recreation Center on July 8 at 10 a.m.

“The Warner Park Community Recreation Center has played an important role in strengthening Madison families. It’s a hub for community, a space that welcomes our young people, our elders and everyone in between,” Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway said in a statement.

“The expansion of this well-loved facility will allow the city to serve even more people on the north side and beyond.”

The center first opened in 1999 and is the first and only city-operated community center. The expansion concludes a process that began in 2015 when residents asked for more programming and gathering space.

Construction of the expansion began in 2024.

The new space offers about 9,000 square feet of gymnasium space, and the building is energy efficient via geothermal heating and cooling equipment.

Renovations to the original building include a new fitness center.

The ribbon-cutting event is at 1624 Northport Drive.
