WEA Member Benefits Foundation, Inc., has awarded a $25,000 multi-year grant to the Random Lake School District to support school-based mental health initiatives.

“The WEA Member Benefits Foundation understands that the future of student mental health is not simply about providing more services, it is about creating schools where resilience is intentionally taught before students reach a crisis,” Random Lake School District Superintendent Michael Trimberger said in a statement. “Their partnership has been instrumental in helping us implement our UNYTUS model, where durable skills, movement, relationships and purpose become daily habits that strengthen the mental wellness of every student.”

Grant funding will support the district’s programming focused on resilience, emotional regulation, empathy, healthy relationships, purpose, grit, movement and other life skills.

“The Random Lake School District has done a commendable job integrating important mental and behavioral health practices into the curriculum and culture of its schools, and those efforts have produced impressive results,” WEA Member Benefits Foundation Executive Director Steve Goldberg said in a statement. “We admire the positive impact these practices have had on the district’s culture and are using them to help other school districts achieve similar results.”

The Random Lake School District serves approximately 680 students in grades K-12.
