The Racine County Board of Supervisors has approved the use of $8.47 million in opioid settlement money to pay down 25% of the annual debt service on the county’s new Behavioral Health Services building, according to a report in the Wisconsin State Journal.
Racine County Communications Manager Casey Morgenson wrote in an email that the allocation represents the percentage of the 50,000-square-foot building that is dedicated to residential treatment for opioid use disorder, co-occurring substance use disorder and mental health conditions.
The facility, which will cost about $36 million to build, is scheduled to open in late 2026.
