Sabrina Madison, founder and director of the Progress Center for Black Women in Madison, said Thursday that the center is behind on its fundraising goal and will launch a fundraising campaign to avoid program cuts.

The announcement was made during a Facebook livestream event. Madison said the center would like to raise at least $50,000 and will be sending out a newsletter informing residents and businesses about forthcoming events and other opportunities to support the center. One way to contribute is to become a monthly sustainer for one, two or three years with monthly contributions ranging from $5 to $50.

Located at 30 W. Mifflin St. on the Capitol Square, the center provides a supportive environment to advance Black women, including professional support and development, co-working and collaborative workspace, workshops and events.
