A bill that would help with the price of housing and has bipartisan support won’t be signed by President Donald Trump until lawmakers pass laws restricting voting, the New York Times reported.
Trump wants restrictions on voter identification and mail-in-ballots, which experts have long reported as a way to suppress democracy.
The bipartisan housing bill could still become law.
The 21st Century Road to Housing Act would be the most significant housing bill in over three decades, making housing more affordable by lowering housing costs and making it cheaper to construct new homes.
Some of the ways it would do that are by reducing federal regulations and incentivizing development at the local level.
