PPE donation without proper documentation could lead to penalties

Since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, many manufacturers pivoted their production lines to provide personal protective equipment (PPE) to first responders and other nonprofit organizations. But, without the proper documentation, these same businesses could face sales and use taxes, penalties, and up to 12% interest on the total value of the donation. Reinhart attorney Don Millis explains the need for Certificate of Exempt Status (CES) documentation for any company donating PPE.
