The Annual Mohawk District Pinewood Derby was held at Smart Motors in Madison on March 5 for the fourth year in a row. Nearly 40 Madison area cub scouts and boy scouts brought their pinewood creations to Smart Motors, known for selling hybrid cars, and learned about a different form of alternative energy — gravity. Pure gravity powered the tiny cars over the 45 foot aluminum track and participants learned how tweaks in aerodynamics or car weight could be the difference between a first place and a sixth place finish.
