Downtown indie bookstore Lake City Books will open the doors of its new space at 120 S. Carroll St. in the first week of July. Owner Molly Fish said after three years of strong sales, the shop has outgrown its Hamilton Street location, and she’s excited for the expanded inventory and event opportunities the new storefront will bring.

The new, 4,400-square-foot space will feature a sprawling 36-foot-long bookshelf wall with a rolling ladder, along with floor-to-ceiling windows, a wine bar and tables for guests. An outdoor patio area looks down the street toward Lake Monona — one of the local inspirations behind Lake City Books’ distinctive blue shelves and other branding that nods to Madison’s lakes.
