Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery may not be able to walk off into the sunset in merger bliss, as the deal is facing lawsuits from 12 states, including California, CNBC reported.

The legal action came from state attorneys general challenging the acquisition based on antitrust grounds.

The deal combines Paramount and Warner Bros., as well as streaming platforms Paramount+ and HBO Max. The streaming services would combine into one service.

The deal would also combine CBS, MTV, BET, WBD’s CNN, TNT and more.

The merger won approval from WBD shareholders in April. The deal was expected to close by September.
