A judge has granted a temporary restraining order putting the Paramount Skydance and Warner Bros. Discovery merger on hold, CNBC reported.
California District Judge Araceli Martínez-Olguín signed off on the order Monday. It puts a 14-day pause in place.
Last week, multiple state attorneys general filed a lawsuit to block the $110 billion acquisition due to antitrust concerns.
Paramount said in a statement it believes the merger to be lawful. The lawsuit argues it would violate the Clayton Antitrust Act. This act prohibits anticompetitive mergers and acquisitions.
States suing to block the merger also include Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon and Washington.
