A splash pad in the works for 11 years is finally near the finishing line.
The village of Oregon got a boost to finish its splash pad when the Oregon School District on July 13 voted to cover the final $200,000 needed to finish the $1.4 million water wonderland, the Wisconsin State Journal reported.
The Oregon-Brooklyn Optimist Club was the first entity to begin the splash pad’s planning and funding.
Funding had wavered during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the school board said it was unsure of the project after costs skyrocketed in the years since.
The school board was able to use funding from the Community Education budget for the project.
Other funding has come from donors and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
It is unclear when the splash pad will be finished.
