A proposal to either eliminate or downsize the 18-hole Foxboro Golf Course in the village of Oregon was opposed by local homeowners during an Aug. 6 public hearing, according to an article in the Wisconsin State Journal.
Developer Glenn Hofer, who owns Foxboro, the community’s only public golf course, said he plans to either sell the course and build homes on part of the property or redevelop over the course if he fails to sell it.
More than 100 residents attended the hearing, and none of the people who came forward to comment voiced support for Hofer’s plans.
Among their concerns are a possible drop in property values and the potential for flooding.
Hofer has said the golf course needs $1.5 million in improvements and is no longer financially viable.
