Oil prices were back on the rise Wednesday and stocks fell, the Associated Press reported.

The S&P 500 fell 0.5% from its all-time high; the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.8% as of noon Eastern time and the Nasdaq Composite dipped 0.8%.

Oil rose 2.1%. The price of Brent crude oil per barrel reached $97.98. The climb is attributed to the U.S. and Iran launching retaliatory attacks at each other.
