Northwestern Mutual in Milwaukee and ABC Supply Co. in Beloit are Nos. 1 and 2 on Deloitte’s Wisconsin 75 list of the state’s largest private companies based on annual sales revenue.
Madison’s American Family Insurance, ranked No. 3, was the largest Dane County-based company on the annual list, and medical records company Epic came in at No. 10.
To be eligible for the list, companies must have a majority ownership (over 50%) by an individual, individuals, family, employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) or private equity firm.
Rounding out the top 10 in spots 4-9 are: SC Johnson, Racine; U.S. Venture Inc., Appleton; Uline, Pleasant Prairie; Kwik Trip, La Crosse; Ashley Furniture Industries LLC, Arcadia; and Schreiber Foods, Green Bay.
Other ranked Madison area companies and their respective ranking are: Quartz, 18; Findorff, 35; JP Cullen, 36; Stoughton Trailers, 42; Promega, 43; Hooper Corp., 48; Electronic Theatre Controls, 57; Hy Cite, 59; First Supply, 60; and Tri-North Builders, 73.
