A new, fully-remodeled Latin restaurant called begonia, 1835 Monroe St., will open to the public on Friday, Aug. 28.
The restaurant is co-owned by Sara Anderson and her son-in-law, Chef Christopher Lund, who reimagined Kettle Black Kitchen into begonia.
The restaurant will offer fare made daily from scratch, including familiar favorites like smoked brisket empanadas and Norwegian salmon as well as new menu items like “street” corn and swordfish.
A newly expanded bar will feature a happy hour food menu from 4 to 6 p.m.
“We wanted a restaurant where you could celebrate an anniversary but also decide at 5 p.m. that you just want a cocktail and something great to eat,” Anderson, co-owner and general manager, said in a press release.
