IKEA, the global low-cost furnishings and home items retailer, will need 54,000 square feet of space, enough to take up three retail spaces, when it opens later this year at the Prairie Towne Center on Junction Road, according to an article in the Wisconsin State Journal.
Even though the Madison store will consume three retail spaces, it is considered a small-format store by the Ingka Group, the largest of IKEA’s franchisee holding companies.
The company, which controls about 75% of IKEA’s 500 global stores, said the Madison IKEA is among more than 20 new small-format stores that will open this year.
