The Mount Pleasant Plan Commission Wednesday voted to approve Microsoft’s site plan amendment for its Mount Pleasant data center campus.
The vote sends the amended plan to the full Village Board for consideration.
The Village Board is expected to consider the new site plan during its Oct. 26 meeting, according to Sean Ryan, communications director for the Village of Mount Pleasant.
The modified site plans call for seven data center buildings instead of nine, plus two utility substations and one storage building.
Overall, there would be more combined square footage — 5,878,080 square feet compared to the 5.2 million square feet in the previous site plan.
The village of Mount Pleasant has approved up to 15 data centers on the campus.
Microsoft has opened its first data center and is building a second one next to it.
