Milwaukee’s century-old Oriental Theater will be showcased as part of Turner Classic Movies’ “Still Now Showing” series, according to a report by Wisconsin Public Radio.
The theatre, which opened in 1927, will be visited by a TCM crew on Wednesday and Thursday, according to Susan Kerns, executive director of Milwaukee Film, which operates the theatre and runs events such as the Milwaukee Film Festival.
Kerns hopes that movie fans nationwide will visit the Oriental Theatre after it’s featured on the TCM Series. Program dates and times have yet to be announced.
TCM’s “Still Now Showing” series has featured iconic American theatres such as the Strand theatre in Rockland, Maine, and the United Palace in New York.
