A proposed power transmission line through southern Wisconsin will be the subject of open houses next week in Dane and seven other counties, according to Midcontinent Grid Solutions, the company that wants to build the line.

The company said route options and other details will be presented about its proposed 190-mile, 765-kilovolt electricity transmission line, known as the BECI project.

The Dane County open house will be held on Aug. 26, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Round Table, 1611 N. Bristol St., in Sun Prairie.

A final route is still to be determined, but it will extend from Crawford County east through Richland, Sauk and Columbia counties, then southeast through Dodge or Dane County, and then south to the Illinois state line through Jefferson, Walworth and Rock counties.

An open house will be held in each county the week of Aug. 24-28.
