Award-winning journalist Michael Barbaro, the founding host of the New York Times’ podcast The Daily, will join the La Follette School of Public Affairs for a program titled “On Covering Today’s America,” on Oct. 20.
The program, moderated by Susan Webb Yackee, director of the La Follette School at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Memorial Union’s Shannon Hall.
The Daily podcast, which has more than 3 million listeners, has been named a top podcast of the year by publications such as the Atlantic, Esquire and the New Yorker.
“The Daily has helped revolutionize news podcasts and I have long admired Michael for his thoughtfulness and commitment to context and civility,” Yackee said in a press release. “These are prized qualities at La Follette, and I am excited to hear his thoughts on a variety of topics of interest for his many fans in Madison and beyond.”
