Following a national search, the Medical College of Wisconsin announced Wednesday it would hire from its own ranks with the appointment of Dr. Michael Stadler as executive director of the Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin Endowment.

As the endowment’s new leader, Stadler will be in charge of growing Blue Cross & Blue Shield United of Wisconsin conversion funds to help address Wisconsin’s most pressing healthcare needs.

Stadler, who will report to Medical College President and CEO Shekar Kurpad, will remain on MCW’s faculty as an associate professor in the Department of Otolaryngology and Communication Sciences.

He served as chief medical officer of Froedtert Hospital from 2019-2024 and has led Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin’s Health Workforce Well-Being Landmark Initiative since 2025.

Stadler received his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in 2006.
